You know the scenarios: you're getting ready to head out the door and your neighbor knocks, holding the plate full of those holiday cookies that you LOVE. You hurry through a few minutes of small talk and thanks, and continue getting ready, but first you've gotta try just ONE piece (or maybe two) of that delicious fudge. My Story...
Early in my career, as a personal trainer, I was CONVINCED that I knew the SOLUTION for all those who struggled with their weight and fitness level, and if my clients would only DO WHAT I SAID, their problems would be solved! As I gained a bit more experience I learned that my favorite exercise-based solutions weren't always a good fit for every person.
Then, as learned more about nutrition and taught families about it, I thought that the REAL solution was just for people to just eat meat & vegetables and stop with all the processed foods. Unfortunately, it turns out that sometimes processed foods are what people KNOW or have access to, and not everybody likes veggies, or wants to eat meat. So that wasn't really the answer, either.
After that, I began to learn about the profound effects that stress and poor sleep have on folks' habits, and I thought "well if they'd just go to bed earlier, everything would be fine."
Then I had a kid.👶🏾👶🏻
Two actually, within about a year and a half🥴 -- and I got smacked in the face with just how HARD it can be to get enough sleep or deal with ALL the stress that comes from a complex family life (or any life, really).
At every step, I've noticed how a one-size-fits-all solution just does not ACTUALLY fit all!
Although we live in a society that tells us that every problem has a simple solution, and every desire can be met with a straightforward approach if we will only TRY hard enough, the truth is that changing your body can be really hard, and how to do it isn't always clear.
What worked for your sister or that dude at the office may not be right for you, and what worked in your 20's may be ineffective in your 40's and 50's and beyond.
These realizations have pushed me to develop more-effective ways to help people like YOU that are struggling to achieve the health that they so DEEPLY desire.

My philosophy is pretty simple: There are four key areas that have major impacts on your health (Nutrition, Movement, Sleep, and Stress), and each of these Four Pillars deeply affects the others. As you work to improve your overall health, you'll eventually improve each area, and over time, your overall health will reach higher and higher heights.
The Toddler Walk
These improvements won't happen overnight, but rather in tiiiiny increments. As you take each baby step to improve, you'll gain confidence in your ability to make changes, so the more and more small steps you take, the more easily you'll seek out and find areas where you can successfully change.
Just like a toddler learning to walk for the first time, you'll start with halting, awkward movements and fall down a lot. Over time, you'll notice that you're better able to take coordinated steps in the direction that you want to go, you'll be better at getting back up when you fall, and you'll gain confidence that you can walk or run towards any goal that you desire.
